NASA Visit

A team from International School Guwahati had the privilege of visiting the Kennedy Space Centre[NASA] in the United States of America from 14th to 28th August 2012. The team consisted of Ankush Banik,Naman Baruah,Victor Deka,Dorothy Tanti,Niharjeet Mahanta and Ms Sonia S.Majumdar,Ms Momi Mahanta and Ms Rijumoni Baruah[Teachers]. They were led through an intensive guided orientation of the basics of space programmes that launch men to moon, the impact of orbited satellites on present day life, besides being taken to the very same Redstone, Atlas and Titan rockets that first put NASA astronauts in space, and a climb aboard Mercury,Gemini and Apollo capsules to acquire an idea of the cramped quarters that the astronaut pioneers had endured. The NASA trip also included a shuttle Launch Experience and an introduction to the Hubble Space Telescope, a visit to Disneyland and trips to the Diamond Community School and Florida University of Technology.
